Storing Dried Flowers


Dried flowers are far easier to keep than fresh, as they require virtually no maintenance. No watering is required, and you won't experience wilting petals, drooping stems, and the unhappy sight of dying blooms in the bin. What care is required to keep them looking their best? Should you decide you want to put them away and bring them out at a later date, how should you store them to ensure they still look good when you want them again? We are going to take a look at the best way to of store dried flowers to get the best from them for years to come.


Caring For Dried Flowers On Display


When you display your dried flowers in a beautiful vase, it's important to ensure that the surrounding conditions are suitable to prevent premature deterioration.


  • Keep them dry - DO NOT WATER
  • Ensure they are not exposed to damp conditions
  • Do not display in direct sunlight
  • Do not expose to draughty or windy conditions (such as next to an open window)
  • If they look dusty, carefully remove dust with a soft brush (like a clean paintbrush) - DO NOT WASH

Storing Dried Flowers Short-term


If you need to store dried flowers for a short while, such as keeping them safe for an upcoming event, or transporting them to a venue, the points above that refer to wet and damp apply. Due to the delicate nature of many dried flowers, what container you use, and how you place the products inside it is important to prevent damage.

  • Keep dry
  • Do not expose to damp
  • Keep away from direct or extreme heat sources
  • Ensure the container is suitable to prevent dirt and dampness from affecting the products
  • Also, ensure that the container is strong enough to protect the products from being crushed

Storing Dried Flowers Long-term


There may be times when you want to remove your flowers from display for use at a later date, or you aren't ready to use them, and want to put them away until they are needed. In this situation, the above points are relevant. It's also important to ensure that no insects can enter the storage vessel, as some creatures, such as moths, can invade the products, infest, and destroy them. We use sturdy cardboard boxes in our warehouse, sealed with tape to prevent bugs from getting in!
